Our manufacturing process

From Drawing to Component

A complete route through casting, machining and finishing.

Silicasol investment casting

Complex shapes.
A considered process.

Dana uses silicasol lost wax casting to produce metal components. Machining and surface treatment complete the manufacturing route according to the requirements of the finished part.

  • Review the part drawing and material
  • Plan the casting and secondary operations
  • Confirm the final finish and inspection requirements

Step by step

Built around the finished part.

01

Drawing review

Send your part drawing, material specification, annual quantities and finishing requirements. PDF, IGS, STP and CAD files are welcome.

02

Wax pattern

A wax pattern defines the component geometry. Patterns are assembled in preparation for the investment casting shell.

03

Shell & casting

The silicasol shell is built around the wax pattern. After wax removal, the prepared shell is used for metal casting.

04

Precision machining

Functional faces, bores and connection features are machined according to the approved component drawing.

05

Finish & review

The specified surface treatment and component checks complete the agreed manufacturing route.
